Yvan Brutsaert & Laurent Van Ausloos
The Belgian contemporary artist duo painter Yvan Brutsaert and photographer Laurent Van Ausloos are founders of Design Studio Mira. Since 2015, they have been making collaborative art, mixing their two art forms in a subtle way.
Power, intuition, movement and material
The work of Yvan Brutsaert is about letting viewers travel according to his imagination. His work is full of power, intuition, movement and material – sometimes cosmic, other times mineral. Yvan Brutsaert produces designs for Deknudt Mirrors together with Laurent van Ausloos.
The Floc design mirror is a recent addition to Deknudt Mirrors’ impressive collection. Images and paintings of the Belgian duo were the inspiration for the mirror’s design. The artistic illustrations are screen printed onto the round mirror. These illustrations do not have a specific shape, so that the viewer can interpret them as they wish. This design mirror is reminiscent of a Rorschach inkblot.
Own artistic vision
Laurent Van Ausloos provides his own artistic vision to these designs. A photographic and contemporary vision that captures painting as a landscape and transforms it to create atmospheres, play of light and visual depth. These new contrasts, new shapes, new shades of colour and new depths evoke new emotions for the viewer.
The counterpart of the Floc design mirror is the Flux design mirror, the ideal partner to hang together in the same room. Based on the same inspiration as the Floc design mirror, these illustrations do not have a specific shape, so that the viewer can interpret them as they wish.
